The Ready State Review Is Its Mobility Programming Worth It?

A person in a purple jacket and dark trousers lies face down on a green mat on grass
The Ready State is a video coach for mobility work, not a field clinic.

The Ready State review on this page covers the Mobility Coach app from Kelly Starrett’s company. It uses dated Apple and Google listings, the company site, and store privacy labels. This is a source-reviewed guide, not a hands-on lab test. Figures were captured on 13 September 2026.

Who The Ready State review is for

The Ready State review is for people who already know Starrett’s foam-roller and band style and want it in an app. The US App Store page describes daily videos of 5 to 30 minutes, a trunk-shoulder-hip-ankle test, a pain map, and sport-specific pre and post clips. It also lists custom playlists, a habit alarm, streaks, and a monthly live Q&A.

It suits lifters and coaches who want a large on-demand shelf, not a single follow-along voice. Several Play reviews said the clips teach a mobilisation, then leave you to do the work. That is a different product from Pliability’s talk-through holds.

Skip it if you want a cheap timer. Skip it if you have no roller or ball and do not plan to buy one. A 2023 US review called the app “how to use a foam roller.” That is one user’s view. The store copy still leans on tools. If you want mat-only illustrations, see the Bend review.

Dated specs from the stores

The Ready State review dates the public specs. The Ready State Inc. publishes Mobility Coach. The US App Store page captured on 13 September 2026 listed version 5.2.2, dated 2 September. Size was 72.4 MB. It required iOS 13 or later. Category was Sports. Age rating was 9+, with a health-or-wellness note. Language was English.

Google Play, same day, showed an update on 2 September 2026. The header showed 3.6 stars from 107 reviews. The reviews pane showed 3.5 from 102. Install band was 10K+. AppBrain’s July 2026 scrape also used 10,000+ downloads. The store copy still says “over 100,000” athletes use the programme. That is a company claim, not the Play band.

The Ready State price and a 12-month bill

The Ready State review has to list every IAP row we saw, not pick a favourite. If you pay the US $21.99 monthly IAP for a year, the bill is $263.88 before tax. The $229.99 yearly SKU is cheaper on that pair. If checkout still offers $14.99 a month, twelve months would be $179.88, and the $159.99 year would undercut that. We cannot see which SKU a given account is shown. The listing displayed all of them.

In the UK, £19.99 a month is £239.88 over twelve months, almost the same as the £229.99 year. The £14.49 / £154.99 pair is a lower path if it is still offered to you. Hybrid Athlete’s older review quoted $14.99 a month and about $12.99 a month billed yearly. That page is stale next to the 2026 IAP list.

Company trial pages disagree on 7 versus 14 days. A UK App Store review from April 2025 said a trial charged £15 at once. We cannot settle that from here. Screenshot the checkout. Cancel on the store you used. Several reviews say refunds are hard.

How the programming is sold

The mobility test scores trunk, shoulders, hips, and ankles. Version 5.2.1 added a performance dashboard for those scores. The pain map is an interactive body chart that suggests mobilisations. Sport clips are split into pre and post. Daily Mobility rotates a new guided session. Filters can shorten a video or match the kit you have.

Bonus items include challenges, a monthly Q&A with Starrett, and protocols the listing values at $99 each. Those dollar tags are marketing, not a separate bill we could verify. Playlists can be public. Leaderboards and badges sit on top. None of that is a rehab plan.

If you want a quieter no-kit hour, use our no-equipment full-body home workout. For a sport-test app with a free library, see the GOWOD review.

The Ready State privacy in plain language

The Ready State privacy picture splits by store. Apple’s label, captured 13 September 2026, said purchases, identifiers, and usage may be used to track you across other companies’ apps and sites. Purchases and usage may be linked to you. Identifiers may be collected but not linked. Play’s form said no data is shared with third parties, while personal info and device IDs may be collected. Data is encrypted in transit. You can request deletion. The Ready State review reports both forms.

Those two forms do not match. That can happen when Apple and Play ask different questions. The company policies page lists a long set of web and app data, including usage, device IDs for ads, and in some cases movement or body data. Read that page if you will log health details.

What “clinically proven” did not show

The Ready State review has to treat “clinically proven” as marketing until a paper appears. The App Store headline calls this the only clinically proven mobility app to relieve pain and raise performance. We searched PubMed-style listings for The Ready State and Mobility Coach. We did not find a trial of this product. Related papers on other mobilisation methods are not a substitute.

Store sentiment is thinner than GOWOD or Pliability. Apple US had 137 ratings. The UK sample was 15. Play had about 100 reviews. Praise cites Starrett’s ideas and the 2021 app rebuild. Complaints cite price, recycled videos, missing written outlines, and support. Hybrid Athlete’s review liked the library and still treated it as a paid video coach, not a clinic.

NHS flexibility pages still give no required weekly stretch dose. They list stretching as one option. A pain map in an app is not an NHS pathway.

Who should skip The Ready State

Skip it if you want voice-led yin holds. See the Pliability review. Skip it if you want splits progressions. See the STRETCHIT review. For the wider shortlist see best stretching apps. The Ready State review ends here. It does not pick a trophy app.

Company pages advertise a trial. Lengths of 7 and 14 days both appear. At least one UK user said they were billed at once. We could not verify the live trial length from here.
Did a study prove The Ready State works?
We found no PubMed trial of the app. “Clinically proven” on the listing is not the same as a named paper with a sample size we can cite.
