Flo Review Period Tracking, Premium Features and Privacy Explained

This Flo review is for people who already know the name and need the current paywall, privacy label and evidence gaps. This is a source-reviewed guide, not a hands-on lab test. Store listings, Flo’s help pages and named papers were captured on 13 September 2026.

Who this Flo review is for

Pick Flo if you want one app that covers periods, a trying-to-conceive mode, pregnancy weeks and perimenopause logging. The US listing, captured 13 September 2026, claims more than 70 trackable symptoms and an Anonymous Mode that avoids linking name, email or personal identifiers.

Skip Premium if a paper calendar already works. Skip Flo entirely if you will treat a fertile-window tile as contraception. The listing says Flo is not birth control and not medical advice. Skip the Symptom Checker if you live in the UK or EU — the listing says it is unavailable there.

What the public listing actually includes

The US App Store listing (id 1038369065) is a free download with in-app purchases. Seller: FLO HEALTH UK LIMITED. It requires iOS 16 or later and lists Apple Watch on watchOS 9 or later. Size was 291.7 MB. Age rating is 13+, with in-app controls, infrequent medical-treatment information, user-generated content, and health topics.

Google Play (org.iggymedia.periodtracker) showed a 9 September 2026 update, an Everyone rating, in-app purchases, and “Users Interact.” Wear OS tiles and complications are named. Play copy claimed more than 570 million downloads worldwide, dated July 2026 in the asterisk. That is a manufacturer figure. We do not treat it as a verified Play install band.

Free-tier copy covers period and ovulation tracking and Secret Chats. Premium copy adds personalised insights, expert-led videos, deeper pregnancy tools, the Health Assistant, and Flo for Partners. Store notes from 2024 and 2025 describe paywalls in front of insights that used to be free. Developer replies say Premium funds the free log. That is not a test we ran.

Flo price, subscription and 12-month cost

Flo’s help article “What is the price for a Flo subscription?” (updated 4 October 2024) refuses a single global tariff. It sends you to Menu → Upgrade to Premium, or to flo.health onboarding for web. It names monthly and yearly plans, a possible free trial used once, and auto-renewal unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.

US App Store IAP the same capture day listed Flo Premium at $1.99, $7.49, $14.99, $47.99 and $59.99, plus ovulation, birth-control-reminder and pregnancy SKUs. We will not guess which row is the current year plan on your Apple ID. UK IAP listed Premium at £39.99, £35.49, £16.99, £14.99 and £11.99.

A 12-month US cost is $59.99 on a $59.99 year SKU. Monthly billing at $7.49 is $89.88. At $14.99 it is $179.88. Promotional weeks can look cheap and then renew. Cancel in Settings, the App Store, or Google Play — the same store you used. Uninstalling Flo does not stop the bill.

Ratings and what reviewers actually said

This Flo review keeps those store cells apart. Two million US Apple ratings is a large sample. The 4.7 figure matches the UK store. Play’s 4.7 sits in a different cell with a different n. Do not average the stars.

Featured Apple notes praise long-term logging. Later notes (2024) describe Premium screens and insights locked after a teaser. Flo Support said Premium funds the free log. Play notes mention lost history after a phone change. Those are store comments, not a lab score.

Flo privacy and Data Safety

Apple’s US privacy label, captured 13 September 2026, said purchases, location, identifiers and usage data may be used to track you across other companies’ apps and sites. Health and fitness, contact info, user content, search history, sensitive info and diagnostics appeared as data linked to you.

Google Play Data Safety the same day said the app may collect location, personal info and seven other types, with no data shared with third parties on that panel, encryption in transit, and a deletion request. Mozilla’s 16 July 2026 hands-on review still scored Flo 7/10 and called it data-hungry, with an AI symptom chatbot in the mix.

The FTC finalised an order on 22 June 2021 after alleging Flo shared health information with Facebook, Google and others despite privacy promises. The order required consent before sharing health data, user notice, deletion instructions to third parties, and an independent privacy review. Flo now leads with Anonymous Mode and ISO 27001/27701 claims. Those are current marketing plus a past enforcement fact. Read flo.health/privacy-policy before you log sex or miscarriage data.

What independent tests actually measured

Bull and colleagues (JMIR, 2020) analysed aggregated Flo logs from 1,579,819 women aged 18 and over who had logged at least three cycles. Only 16.32% had a 28-day median. Cycle length shifted with age. That paper is a description of users, not a head-to-head accuracy trial against ultrasound.

Li and colleagues (JAMIA, 2021) built next-cycle models on a large menstrual-tracker dataset and stressed that skipped logging breaks naive calendars. Related calibration work (PubMed 35072087) used “one of the most popular menstrual trackers” as the data source. Those papers improve methods. They do not publish a simple “Flo is X% accurate” figure we can put in a trophy cell.

This Flo review will not promise fertility or a pregnancy. The listing already forbids that reading. If pain stops a walk, use exercise warning signs. Activity targets are on UK and US physical activity guidelines.

Who should skip Flo

Skip Flo if you need on-device-only storage. Mozilla’s 2026 top score went to Euki. Skip Premium if you will not open courses. A diary you abandon is worse than a paper grid you keep. Cancel the trial in the same store you used.
