Aura Review: Features, Pricing and Who It Suits

This Aura meditation app review is for people who want a large mixed library—meditations, stories, CBT-labelled tracks, hypnosis, coaching—matched by a recommendation engine. This is a source-reviewed guide, not a hands-on lab test. Apple, Google Play, Aura’s FAQ, and named papers were captured on 13 September 2026.

Who this Aura meditation app review is for

Download Aura: Meditation & Sleep, CBT on the App Store · Get Aura: Meditation & Sleep, CBT on Google Play

Stay if you like many teachers and will filter by mood, voice or topic. The US listing says Aura recommends tracks after you share needs and interests. The FAQ calls the product “Spotify for Mental Health & Wellness.” That is a metaphor, not a clinical grade.

Skip it if you want one calm house voice and a short beginner course. That is closer to Headspace. Skip it if you want a vast free catalogue. Insight Timer still leads that job. Skip it if a three-minute free drip feels like a tease. The FAQ is blunt about the cap.

What sits in the Aura library

Aura Health Inc. lists guided meditation, sleep tales, life coaching, CBT tracks, hypnosis, breathwork, music and a gratitude journal. Play copy captured 13 September 2026 also names a mood tracker and live events. Premium, per the FAQ, unlocks unlimited tracks, downloads and extra features.

The store pages repeat a “98% users report Aura helps” line and a community of five to seven million people. Those are developer claims. We did not see the survey method. Omit them from any personal decision unless Aura publishes the study.

Play lists named programmes such as sleep meditation, calm anxiety, stress relief, intro to CBT, and CBT-I. Labels on a track are not a diagnosis and not a course of cognitive behavioural therapy with a clinician.

Dated specs, price and store scores

US dollar headlines come from Aura’s FAQ and the US App Store. We did not recapture a clean UK IAP list, so sterling is “check live.” Play did not show an install band on the page we opened.

What a year of Aura costs

The FAQ’s clean headline is US$69.99 a year. That matches one US IAP row. Other yearly prices sat beside it. Promotions and legacy plans can coexist. Believe the checkout, not a blog table.

Monthly at $11.99 is US$143.88 across twelve bills. The $7.99 monthly row looks like a promo SKU. Six months at $29.99 is a different term. Family at US$129.99 is an add-on for household members, per the FAQ, not a hidden default.

One-to-one coaching is a second subscription. The FAQ says the price depends on the coach. We do not invent that fee. If you only want audio, do not tap a coaching upsell by mistake.

Privacy, in the words of the labels

Apple’s form, captured 13 September 2026, says purchases, contact info, identifiers and usage data may be used to track you across other companies’ apps and sites. Linked data for the developer’s marketing includes purchases, email, name and device ID.

Play’s Data Safety form says some types may be shared with third parties. It also says data is encrypted in transit and you can request deletion. The FAQ describes an in-app delete path: Me → Menu → Edit Account → More → Delete Account.

A mood tracker and journal are intimate even when the age rating is 4+. Read the live privacy policy at aurahealth.io before you grant Health access or save notes you would not want in a vendor file.

What published sources measured

We did not find a peer-reviewed Aura RCT to cite here. A 2022 review of Headspace and Calm trials (O’Dea et al., PMID 36125880) is not evidence about Aura. Do not transfer those effect sizes.

Play reviews are mixed on navigation. One June 2025 review wanted a list view and better hypnosis filters. A May 2024 Premium user called sleep stories too short. Those are dated user notes, not our lab.

Calm still owns the celebrity Sleep Story brand. Aura owns breadth and a matcher. If late-night eating is the real problem, a track will not fix the cupboard. See our stress eating practical guide.

What remains unverified

We did not finish a seven-day trial. We did not sit with a coach. We did not recapture UK sterling. We did not audit Aura’s “billions of data points” claim. We did not verify the 98% satisfaction figure.

No blended score. A 4.7 Apple tile is a crowd average. It is not a promise the next voice will suit you. Aura is not a substitute for therapy.

Frequently asked questions

Is Aura free to use every day?
The FAQ says the limited mobile version is free, with one new three-minute session every two hours. Unlimited listening, downloads and the full library sit on Premium.
How much is Aura Premium?
Aura’s FAQ, captured 13 September 2026, lists US$69.99 a year and a US$129.99 family upgrade. The US App Store also showed other yearly and monthly SKUs. Check the live price in your country.
Does Aura include CBT therapy?
No. The app hosts short audio labelled CBT or CBT-I. That is not a course of therapy with a licensed clinician and not a diagnosis.
Can I use Aura offline?
The FAQ says you can download tracks while online and play them later. Download is described as a Premium action on the track player.
How do I cancel Aura?
The FAQ lists an in-app path and then Apple or Google subscription pages. Deleting the app does not stop a store renewal. Request refunds from Apple, or email Aura with a Play order number, per that page.
