This ROUVY review is for riders who want filmed roads on a smart trainer, not a cartoon world. This is a source-reviewed guide, not a hands-on lab test. Public prices, store listings, and named reviews sit below, each dated.
Who this ROUVY review is for
Choose ROUVY if you want climbs that look like a summer road. Apple’s US listing, captured 13 September 2026, still sold “more than 1,500” augmented-reality routes. BikeRadar (3 November 2025) drew the same contrast: film versus Zwift’s stylised worlds.
Skip it if you want a packed race calendar and in-game chat. Cyclingnews (28 October 2025) and 220 Triathlon (18 January 2026) both said Zwift’s crowd is larger. Skip it if you refuse a subscription. Full features need a paid plan after a seven-day trial.
Hardware is yours to buy. ROUVY’s how-it-works page lists Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and Apple TV. You still need a bike, a trainer or smart bike, and a stable connection. See our best cycling apps hub if you are still choosing a category, not this one product.

What ROUVY is, in plain terms
VirtualTraining s.r.o. in Prague publishes the app. Cyclingnews dated the company to 2017 in Czechia. The ride is a video of a real road. An avatar and, on many routes, other riders sit on top. Gradient on a smart trainer is meant to follow the film. That is the product. It is not a medical device.
Workouts and plans sit beside free rides. Play’s US listing (updated 27 August 2026, captured 13 September 2026) named plans from Team Visma | Lease a Bike, Lidl-Trek, José Hermida, and Andy Schleck. Weekly challenges and group rides are part of the same pitch.
On 21 January 2025 ROUVY said it had bought FulGaz from The IRONMAN Group and become IRONMAN’s official digital sports platform. A later note said FulGaz would stay standalone after user push-back. IRONMAN courses were to move onto ROUVY. Check the live library. Do not assume every FulGaz file sits on both apps.
Dated specs, price, and store scores
List prices below come from ROUVY’s help article on new rates from 15 July 2025, captured 13 September 2026. Currency follows billing location and cannot be switched, the same page said. Plans renew until you cancel. You can pause once a calendar year for up to 180 days. A seven-day trial starts each plan on ROUVY.com. The company also described a loyalty discount for active subscribers. We did not verify individual loyalty rates.

ROUVY subscription maths without a trophy
Yearly Single is cheaper than twelve UK or US monthly hits if you ride most months. A 180-day pause can cut waste if you only train indoors in winter. We cannot price your loyalty tier. Check the live invoice, including US sales tax that ROUVY said it began adding from 1 January 2025 in some places.
Duo and Group exist for two or up to five riders. That is a household or club question, not a quality score. If you already pay Zwift or TrainerRoad, a second full-price year is easy to stack without noticing.
Privacy and data, in ordinary words
ROUVY’s privacy policy, effective 13 December 2024, says the service collects profile and activity data. That includes time, location, speed, and pace, plus device and network data. Partner SDKs sit in the mobile apps to see how people use them. Co-branded shop pages may send data to partners as well.
Google Play’s Data safety box, captured 13 September 2026, said the app may collect personal info, health and fitness, and app performance. It said health and fitness may be shared with third parties. Data is encrypted in transit. You can request deletion. Those are developer statements, not an audit.
If you race or join group rides, other people can see you on the route. Tighten profile visibility before you treat a winter block as private training.
What published reviews measured
BikeRadar (3 November 2025) compared ROUVY with Zwift on realism versus game features. It noted ROUVY’s purchases of BKOOL and FulGaz, and training content from named riders. It did not publish a lab grade for video smoothness or trainer lag.
Cyclingnews (28 October 2025) described ghost riders, friend lists, bunch races, and time trials. It said cash prizes are not the ROUVY model. Prize draws exist instead. Avatar depth, it said, is thinner than on Zwift or MyWhoosh.
220 Triathlon (18 January 2026) flagged IRONMAN course rehearsal as the reason a triathlete might pick ROUVY. It also said a large screen and strong Wi-Fi help more than a phone on the bars. Play reviews in our 13 September 2026 capture still complained about Android workout layout and pairing. That is sentiment, not a controlled test.
What remains unverified
We did not ride the app. We did not count live routes. App Store and Play kilometre claims disagree, so both stay labelled as store copy. We found no peer-reviewed trial of ROUVY’s gradient match or AR overlay. Power accuracy is a trainer or pedal question. A 2024 Sensors paper on the Tacx Neo 2T (PMC11348236) is about that hardware, not this film layer.
Install counts are unpublished here on purpose. So are blended “editor scores”. If a retailer page shows a different sterling or dollar rate than the help table, trust the checkout you are about to click.
How it sits next to other indoor apps
MyWhoosh is the free virtual-world alternative. Wahoo SYSTM leans on cinematic structured sessions. Progressive load still comes from how you raise work over weeks, not from the scenery. Our progressive overload guide stays useful if you only open ROUVY for pretty roads and never raise the interval target.
Pick ROUVY when the film is why you clip in. Pick a game world when other riders are why. Pick a workout-only app when you already have a plan. None of those choices is a diagnosis.
