Daysy Review How It Works and What the Evidence Says

This Daysy fertility tracker review reads Valley Electronics pages, a UK shop snippet, the 2021 performance paper, and the retracted 2018 effectiveness study. It is for people weighing a one-time basal-temperature device with a free app. This is a source-reviewed guide, not a hands-on lab test.

Who this Daysy fertility tracker review is for

Stay if you want a standalone thermometer that stores the reading on the device and paints red, green or yellow. Stay if you will measure under the tongue most mornings after at least one hour of rest, as the UK FAQ asks. Stay if a one-time hardware bill matters more than a yearly app fee.

Skip Daysy if you need a method a clinician has cleared for you as contraception. Skip it if you will not treat yellow as fertile. Skip it if you want urine-hormone numbers instead of a light. For those readers, see our Mira fertility review or the best fertility apps hub.

Skip it if you need infection protection. Lights do not block sexually transmitted infections. The NHS is plain that fertility-awareness methods do not.

How Daysy is supposed to work

Basal temperature often rises after ovulation. Daysy times an oral reading of about 60 seconds. You also mark menstruation with a button until a violet light holds. The algorithm then shows a colour.

The UK FAQ, captured 13 September 2026, defines the lights. Red means fertile or possibly fertile. Flashing red is a predicted ovulation day. Green means the device calls you infertile. Yellow is learning or a fluctuation. Treat yellow as red. A blinking mix of colours can mean possible pregnancy. That is a vendor signal, not a home test.

The first two to four cycles are a learning phase. Missed days add red or yellow. Fever at or above 38°C (100.4°F) should pause use. The US product page says Daysy is built for cycles between 19 and 40 days. The 2021 paper excluded cycles shorter than 19 or longer than 50 days. Those bounds are not the same.

A paper list of dates still helps a clinic visit. The device is a copy of those mornings, not a diagnosis.

Dated features and platforms

Current hardware on the US and UK sites is Daysy 2.0. Specs on the US product page, captured 13 September 2026: 13 × 4.8 × 2.2 cm, 38 g, a sealed rechargeable battery, EAN 7629999054073. The box lists a case, a quick guide, a user manual and a micro-USB cable. Manufacturer: Valley Electronics AG, Zurich. EU representative: M.I.S.S. GmbH, Murnau.

Daysy works without a phone. Bluetooth is used on demand to sync DaysyDay. The US privacy page says the radio is off except during a manual sync. iOS and Android downloads sit on Apple and Google. We did not copy live store star counts for DaysyDay this day, so this Daysy fertility tracker review omits them.

A GUDID listing for Daysy (07629999054073) describes a thermometric fertility analyser under product code LHD. “FDA-registered Class I” is the company’s 2026 line. Registration is not the same as an FDA-cleared contraceptive app such as Natural Cycles.

Price and 12-month cost

The US product page we opened printed no dollar MSRP. It did offer Affirm language of “starting at just $20 per month” and HSA/FSA eligibility. Those are financing and reimbursement claims, not a verified list price. We omit a US hardware figure rather than guess.

A search capture of the UK shop on 13 September 2026 listed Daysy 2.0 at £299 including VAT and shipping, with a two-year warranty and “one time payment — no subscription.” A direct fetch of that URL returned HTTP 500. Treat £299 as a dated snippet. Confirm checkout.

Twelve-month software cost is £0 / $0 if you only use DaysyDay. There are no strips. Hardware is the whole bill unless you pay for a replacement cable or a 1.0-to-2.0 upgrade, which we did not price. Amazon listings were not captured after a timeout, so retailer stars and a third-party dollar price are omitted.

Privacy and data

Valley’s US privacy explainer, captured 13 September 2026, says the device can stay local. DaysyDay stores cycle fields on servers in Frankfurt. The company says it does not sell data for advertising or tracking. It shares with Valley affiliates and developers. Support can map a file if you give the serial number. Read the live policy. A PIN still matters on a shared phone. DaysyDay Partner can show a calendar to someone you invite. That is not a clinic portal.

What independent and company papers measured

van de Roemer, Haile and Koch (2021) took anonymised logs from Lady-Comp, Baby-Comp and Pearly users (January 2004–November 2014) and ran them through Daysy 1.0.7 firmware. That is a historic European hardware cohort, not a 2026 Daysy 2.0 field trial. Mean age was 30.77 years. Mean BMI was 22.07.

Among users who measured on 80–100% of days (53.1% of the sample), about 41.4% of days were red, 42.4% green and 15.9% yellow. Across the analysis, 0.6% of displayed green days fell inside a defined fertile window. Company marketing turns the complement into “99.4% accuracy.” That is a classification rate on historic files. It is not typical-use pregnancy prevention. The authors said a prospective efficacy study was still needed.

Koch et al. (Reproductive Health, 2018) tried to report Pearl Indexes for Daysy plus DaysyView. Polis (2018) showed the authors dropped users with fewer than 13 cycles from the index and relied on a low-response retrospective survey. The journal retracted the paper in 2019. Do not quote those indexes.

Who should skip it, and what remains unverified

Skip Daysy as your only method if pregnancy would be high risk. Skip it after recent hormones until a clinician says your cycles are usable. The UK FAQ tells you not to enter the first bleed after the pill as a period, and to wait six weeks after birth; the device stays yellow until the first postpartum period is entered.

We did not time a US checkout, capture DaysyDay stars, or test the 2.0 sensor. Shop survey copy about first-cycle conception is marketing, not a trial we can score.

If you also train hard, a yellow-day headache is not chest pain on a run. See exercise warning signs. For a classic chart without hardware, read Fertility Friend. For camera LH strips, see Premom.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Daysy fertility tracker review based on using the device?
No. It is a source-reviewed reading of manufacturer pages, a UK shop snippet, regulator listings and named papers as of 13 September 2026.
Is Daysy contraception?
The 2021 paper is not a Pearl Index. The 2018 effectiveness paper was retracted. NHS pages do not officially recommend fertility devices. Ask a clinician before you drop another method.
How much does Daysy cost?
The US manufacturer page we opened printed no dollar price. A 13 September 2026 search capture of the UK shop listed £299 including VAT and shipping. Confirm the live cart.
Does Daysy need a subscription?
No, according to the US shop FAQ captured 13 September 2026.
Can I use Daysy with irregular cycles?
The company says yes, with more red and yellow days when ovulation is late. The 2021 paper found more false-positive green days in irregular-cycle subgroups.
Does Daysy protect against STIs?
No. Use condoms if infection risk matters.
