Daylio Review Is the Mood Journal and Habit Tracker Worth It?

This Daylio review is for people who will tap a face, not write a page. This is a source-reviewed guide, not a hands-on lab test. Prices and privacy notes come from public pages captured on 13 September 2026.

Daylio is a micro-diary from Relaxio s.r.o. You pick a mood and activities. Notes are optional. The developer says entries stay on the phone. Premium adds stats and icons. The app does not replace therapy.

Who this Daylio review is for

Download Daylio Journal - Mood Tracker on the App Store · Get Daylio Journal - Mood Tracker on Google Play

Choose Daylio if you want a Year in Pixels and a two-tap log. It suits people who will export a PDF for a clinician, and people who refuse another cloud diary. It also suits users who want a 4+ age rating and a Lifestyle listing rather than a medical badge.

Skip it if you want a voiced morning coach — that is Fabulous. Skip it if a pet is the only cue that works — that is Finch. Compare the set on best habit tracking apps.

If the missing habit is food under stress, a mood face is only one row. See the stress eating practical guide.

Dated features and store facts

This Daylio review starts from the US listing: custom activities, notes, photos, weekly and yearly charts, goals, PIN lock, dark mode, and PDF or CSV export. Version 1.76.0 added Siri logging and a larger calendar widget. Earlier 2026 notes added On This Day, scales, and Health data in PDF exports.

Play’s US page (updated 10 September 2026) repeated the local-storage pitch and named audio notes. The developer block on Play listed Habitics in Bratislava. We did not see a verified install band.

Daylio public facts captured 13 September 2026 unless another date is named. Confirm the live storefront before you pay.

Pricing and twelve-month cost

A Daylio review also has to keep SKUs apart. The store card lists several Premium lines. Choosing Therapy’s 2026 write-up still treated $4.99 as monthly and $35.99 as yearly, with a seven-day trial. Those two numbers appear on the US IAP list we fetched. Confirm the label on your confirmation screen.

If you are billed $35.99 a year, the year costs $35.99. If you are billed $4.99 a month and stay 12 months, the year costs $59.88 before tax. PREMIUM at $59.99 on the US list is the lifetime-shaped SKU other write-ups have described. We did not complete a purchase, so treat lifetime as an in-app offer that may appear or vanish.

UK IAP showed £3.99, £29.99, and PREMIUM £49.99. If £29.99 is the year you are offered, that is the UK year cost. Cancel in the store that billed you.

What published pages and reviews actually said

The US store page sells “mental health coach” language. That is marketing. Daylio is a log. A December 2024 Apple review described six years of entries that grew from a face to a full note. A 2022 review said Premium felt worth “around $20 a year” for extra moods — an older personal price, not today’s SKU.

Play reviews we sampled on 13 September 2026 were still warm. Users wanted an hourly energy view and a 02:00 entry that counted as yesterday. Those are feature requests, not accuracy tests.

If you need symptoms and meds on the same timeline, Bearable is the wider file. If you want morning and evening prose, Stoic is the journal.

Privacy in plain language

Daylio’s policy is the clearest local-first story in this cluster. There is no journal account. Entries live in the app’s sandbox. Backups go to your iCloud Drive or Google Drive if you switch them on. The company says it cannot read those files.

Analytics, if allowed, are usage events through Firebase. The policy says names, photos, and typed entries are not sent. Photos stay local unless you include them in a backup you chose.

Play’s Data Safety form still said “data can’t be deleted.” That clashes with a wipe-the-app mental model. Confirm how uninstall, backup delete, and support requests work on your phone before you treat the diary as gone.

What remains unverified

This Daylio review did not import a five-year file. We did not time Siri logging. We did not audit whether Play’s “cannot be deleted” line is a form error.

Play did not show an install band. We omit downloads. Store copy that names bipolar, ADHD, or CBT support is positioning. It is not a trial and not a substitute for a clinician.

Who should skip Daylio

This Daylio review says skip Premium if the free icons already cover your week. Skip the app if you will never tap a face when you are low — a paper grid may be kinder. Skip it if you need a hosted report that a carer can open without your phone.

This Daylio review lands here: strong as a private tap-log if you will export and back up. Weak as a coach and as a medical device. Pay for stats only if you already have months of free rows.

Frequently asked questions

Is Daylio free?
Yes for a basic mood-and-activity log. Premium unlocks extra statistics, icons, and exports, per store copy. A 2026 secondary review described a seven-day Premium trial.
How much is Daylio in the UK and the US?
US IAP lists we captured included $4.99, $35.99, and $59.99 lines. UK lists included £3.99, £29.99, and £49.99. Twelve US months at $4.99 would be $59.88.
Does Daylio store my diary on its servers?
The policy says no. Entries stay on the device. Optional backups use your iCloud or Drive. Analytics, if on, are usage events, not journal text.
Does Daylio replace therapy?
No. It is a record. NHS Every Mind Matters still points people to a professional when support is needed.
What did we not test?
We did not keep a month of entries in a lab. We did not verify every Premium chart. Those remain unverified.
