This Zero fasting app review looks at public store listings, Zero’s help pages and independent fasting evidence. This is a source-reviewed guide, not a hands-on lab test.

Who this Zero fasting app review is for

Download Zero: Fasting & Food Tracker on the App Store · Get Zero: Fasting & Food Tracker on Google Play

Use this page if you want a timer for time-restricted eating. You want dated prices. You do not want a promise that fasting beats every other plan.

Zero suits people who already plan to skip breakfast or close the kitchen at night, and who want a streak and a reminder. The free tier, per the US App Store listing captured 13 September 2026, includes timers, streaks, weekly trends, articles and challenges. Plus adds photo meal logging, a Protein Score, water tracking, custom fasts, “Fat-Burning Mode”, a mood journal and extra charts.

Skip Zero if you have a history of disordered eating, you are pregnant, or a clinician has told you not to skip meals. Skip it if you need a full UK supermarket barcode plan. That is closer to Slimming World or WeightWatchers.

Zero fasting app review: dated features and platforms

Zero Longevity Science, Inc., of Billings, Montana, publishes the app. The US App Store on 13 September 2026 listed version 7.14.0, noted as updated about six days earlier. Google Play said the Android build was updated on 7 September 2026.

Listed platforms are iPhone, Apple Watch and Android. The iOS listing requires iOS 17 and watchOS 10. There is no iPad-first listing on the page we opened.

Free tools, as described on both stores, cover a fasting timer, reminders, a content library, basic statistics, a journal and optional challenges. Plus copy adds photo macros, a daily protein target, hydration, custom fasts up to seven days, correlated charts, and sync with Apple Health, Google Fit, Fitbit and Oura on third-party write-ups. Fortune’s 2026 fasting-app round-up also named those syncs. Treat maker and magazine feature lists as claims, not a filmed audit by us.

The iOS listing says Zero is not a medical device and does not diagnose. That disclaimer matters. “Fat-Burning Mode” and fasting-zone copy describe product views. They are not a metabolic cart test.

Google Play reviews from April 2026 said start/stop taps sometimes failed and the app felt slow. The developer replied that performance is an ongoing priority. An August 2026 Play note was warmer after a bug fix. That is sentiment, not a crash-rate study.

Zero price and 12-month cost

The download is free. There are no ads on the store copy we read. Zero Plus is the paid gate.

Zero’s help article on Plus pricing, captured 13 September 2026, lists regular US prices as $9.99 a month or $69.99 a year. The yearly plan is charged up front and auto-renews. The company says Apple and Google set non-US currency. It also says old promotional SKUs stay visible on the App Store.

The US App Store the same day listed Plus SKUs at $9.99, $69.99 and $89.99. We did not verify which SKU a given account sees. Twelve months at $9.99 would be $119.88. The listed yearly SKU is $69.99. Fortune’s 2026 guide said a seven-day Plus trial is sometimes offered. The US listing also says a free trial is available. Trials are often first-time only. Check the paywall.

The UK App Store listing, captured from a public store snapshot on 13 September 2026, showed Plus SKUs at £9.99, £60.99, £67.99, £68.99 and £89.99. Twelve months at £9.99 would be £119.88. If your account is offered £67.99 a year, that is the cheaper listed path. We did not complete a UK purchase, so we do not pick a “current” yearly price for every Apple ID.

If you only want a clock, the free timer may be enough. Plus is the gate for photo meals and the Protein Score. That is a product design choice, not a quality score from this Zero fasting app review.

Store ratings are not one number

Keep Apple and Google apart. On 13 September 2026 the US App Store showed 4.8 stars from 445,000 ratings, age rating 16+. Google Play showed 3.8 stars from about 61,200 reviews, with 60,700 also shown on the same page. Play’s content rating was Mature 17+.

The Play page we retrieved did not show a public install band. Do not treat “millions of users” in marketing copy as a Play install figure.

Apple reviews we opened liked the timer and articles. Some older reviews said returning users hit login or timer bugs. Play reviews in 2026 split between “useful and ad-free” and “too slow to start a fast”. That gap is why the two stores must stay in separate cells.

Eating-window meals still need protein and plants. The app only logs the clock unless you pay for meal photos.

Privacy and Data Safety

Apple’s privacy label on the US listing, captured 13 September 2026, says data linked to you may include Health & Fitness, location, contact info, user content, identifiers, usage data and diagnostics. Apple notes the label is developer-provided.

Google Play Data Safety the same day said the app may share device or other IDs with third parties. It may collect location, personal info and five other types. Data is encrypted in transit. You can request deletion. The policy URL on the store is zerolongevity.com/privacy-policy.

If you invite a friend or post a meal, that is a social choice. Turn sharing off if you do not want a trail.

What independent sources measured

We found no PubMed or Cochrane paper that validates Zero’s zone graphics, photo macros or Protein Score. Fortune’s 2026 fasting-app piece described Zero as a usable free timer with an optional yearly Plus plan. It did not run an accuracy test.

A BMJ network meta-analysis (2025) pooled 99 randomised trials and 6,582 adults. Intermittent fasting and continuous calorie cuts both reduced weight versus eating as usual. Versus continuous restriction, only alternate-day fasting showed a modest extra loss (about 1.3 kg) and mainly in shorter trials. Trials of 24 weeks or more did not keep that edge.

NICE NG246 (2025) made no recommendation on intermittent fasting in adults. The committee said the evidence was mixed and often low quality. It asked for better trials. CDC and NHS pages still put the emphasis on a calorie pattern you can keep, not on a branded timer.

Waist and BMI still need a tape and a clinician, not a streak. See BMI and waist circumference.

What remains unverified

This Zero fasting app review did not complete an in-app purchase. We cannot confirm which US or UK Plus SKU appears first. We did not audit photo-log error rates. We did not open every privacy-label purpose toggle. If a figure is missing from the table, the public page did not show it.
