Down Dog: generated practice

Yoga Buddhi Co. says each session is built on the spot. The US listing named more than ten yoga styles, 19 boost areas, six voices and 13 languages. It said you can like or skip poses. It also said one membership now covers meditation, Pilates and HIIT in the same app.

US All Access at $99.99 a year is $8.33 a month if you stay. The website may be cheaper. We could not read a public web price without login. Garage Gym Reviews still quoted older store SKUs of $9.99 and $59.99. Those were not the headline US IAP on 13 September 2026.

Students and teachers at accredited primary and secondary schools can apply for free access with a school email. That is a manufacturer programme. It is not a general coupon.

Daily Yoga: filmed freemium

Daily Yoga’s store copy lists classic yoga, chair yoga, wall Pilates, sofa yoga, Tai Chi and meditation. It advertises a Smart Coach that builds a 28-day list. It also promises “visible results within days.” NHS and CDC pages do not support that timeline.

Checkout is noisy. The US listing stacked Silver, Gold, “Yoga for beginners,” “Annual Premium Special” and lifetime-style names. UK IAP added £22.99 and £66.99 aliases. Play reviewers in 2025 still said they did not understand which tier they bought.

Free classes exist. Ads exist on that path. One US review praised the free layer. Another said refunds were hard when auto-renew hit. Developer replies pointed to [email protected].

Ratings are not the same story

Down Dog’s Apple and Play ratings sit at 4.9 with very large n. Daily Yoga’s Apple pile is small and still high (4.7 / 4.6). Its Play pile is huge and lower (4.1). That gap matters more than a tenth of a star on Apple.

Play’s two Down Dog counts disagree (378K vs 344K). Daily Yoga’s Play counts disagree (162K vs 152K). We report both. We do not invent install bands. Neither captured Play page printed one.

Privacy and data

Down Dog’s Play Data Safety box is the lighter one: no sharing with third parties, encryption in transit, deletion on request. Apple still lists contact info and diagnostics as linked to you.

Daily Yoga’s Apple label lists identifiers used to track you. Health data can be linked. The listing said the app may use location even when it is not open. Play said device IDs may be shared.

Evidence and what remains unverified

NHS adult guidance lists yoga among strengthening examples. Cochrane’s yoga review for chronic low back pain found small gains versus no exercise. Neither document tested these apps.

We did not test whether Down Dog sequences never repeat. We did not test Daily Yoga’s calorie export. We did not confirm a live website discount. Garage Gym Reviews is a named hands-on piece by that team, not by us.

For quiet flats, skip HIIT blocks. Use yin, restorative or chair work. A quiet apartment workout or a fifteen-minute home workout can sit beside either app. Strength days can use a no-equipment full-body home workout.

Who should skip both

Skip both if you want a free filmed luxury library. That is Alo’s current listing. Skip both if you want a reformer archive. That is Pilates Anytime.

Skip Down Dog if you need a teacher face. Skip Daily Yoga if you refuse tracking identifiers or an 18+ listing on a shared iPhone.
