This Alpha Progression review looks at the official site, US and UK store prices, and privacy labels. This is a source-reviewed guide, not a hands-on lab test.
Who this Alpha Progression review is for
Read this if you want the app to name the next set, not only store the last one. Skip it if you already run a coach’s spreadsheet and only need a dump of numbers. Skip it if you want a social feed like Hevy.
The official English site, captured 13 September 2026, says you pick goals, days, session length and equipment. A generator then builds a split. A second algorithm suggests weight, reps and RIR from your logged sets. Multiple gym profiles change the exercise pool when you switch sites.
For other planners see best strength training apps and Fitbod. Fitbod, on Alpha Progression’s own FAQ, rebuilds the day more often. Alpha Progression says it keeps a stable plan and progresses inside it. That is their contrast, not a trial result.

Free log versus Pro planner
US App Store version 7.5 was dated 2 September 2026. Play was updated on 1 September 2026. Apple age rating on the US page referenced health or wellness topics. Play is Everyone.
Free, per the official FAQ, includes unlimited logging, all 795 videos, your own plans, measurements, rest timer, records, achievements, plan sharing and CSV export. No ads. No account required for basic use. Pro adds the plan and workout generators, progression recommendations, charts, multiple gyms, periodisation and deloads, plate and warmup calculators, exercise evaluations and custom-exercise images.
That gate is the product. If you only log, you may never pay. If you want the “what do I lift next?” line, this Alpha Progression review says you are on Pro after the trial.
The site says the founding team has personal-training and bodybuilding backgrounds and that the algorithm draws on meta-analyses of volume, intensity, RIR, frequency and periodisation. That is a methods claim. We found no peer-reviewed paper that tests this specific app against those papers.
Alpha Progression price
US IAP on 13 September 2026, the date for this Alpha Progression review, listed “Yearly plan for best results” at $79.99 and “Monthly plan for best results” at $12.99, twice, plus legacy monthly $24.99 and yearly $99.99. Twelve months at $12.99 is $155.88. The listed yearly price is $79.99.
UK IAP listed £69.99 yearly, £10.99 and £9.99 monthly, plus legacy £24.99 monthly and £99.99 yearly. Twelve months at £10.99 is £131.88. The listed yearly price is £69.99.
The official site says the yearly Pro plan starts with a 14-day free trial. It also says you can buy one month if you need more time, then switch. Cancel in Apple or Google settings, or via a web portal if you paid on the site. We did not run a trial checkout, so we cannot confirm whether both US SKUs currently attach a trial.
Ratings and user notes
US App Store: 4.9 stars from 2,200 ratings (13 September 2026). UK App Store: 4.9 from 825 ratings. The marketing site still says “4.9 stars from 40,000+ lifters” and “25 million workouts.” Those are global marketing totals, not the US rating count.
Google Play: 4.8 stars from about 21,000 reviews (a block said 20,800). Play install band was not on the fetched page.
A Play review dated 7 September 2026 compared the Android app favourably to another logger the writer had used on iPhone, and asked for richer warmup and exercise-swap options. An 18 August 2026 review liked overload tracking but said the generator did not match the plans they wanted. Those are two voices, not a survey.
Find Your Edge’s 2026 strength-app roundup called Alpha Progression a hypertrophy-leaning planner and warned that RIR and volume talk can feel dense for beginners. That is one editorial take.

Privacy and sharing
The official privacy URL is https://alphaprogression.com/privacy. Our fetch returned 403, so we do not quote unseen policy text. Use the live page before you create an account.
Apple’s US privacy label on 13 September 2026 listed purchases used to track you, and linked data that includes purchases, identifiers and health and fitness (the label block was dense and partly duplicated in the fetch). Play Data Safety said the app may share device or other IDs with third parties, may collect personal info, financial info and four other types, encrypts data in transit, and offers deletion.
That Play sharing line is the privacy caveat to hold. A logger that suggests loads is also a logger that may send an advertising identifier off-device. If that bothers you, read the policy and the OS permission screens before you subscribe.
Evidence and gaps
Hypertrophy research on weekly sets is real. An app that cites it is not the same as an app that has been tested. We found no independent validation of the next-set recommendations, RIR targets or exercise “muscle-building potential” scores in this Alpha Progression review.
NHS adult guidance still asks for muscle-strengthening activity on at least two days a week when you can. The generator can fill those days. It cannot clear you after a flare-up. If a suggestion feels sharp or wrong, stop. The model does not see your joint.
If you want a human coach ladder instead, read our Ladder review. If you only want last session’s numbers, Hevy or Strong stay simpler. The training principle behind the recommendations is in the progressive overload guide.
What this Alpha Progression review could not check
We did not generate a plan in the app. We did not compare recommended loads to a coach’s notes. We did not open the German-language policy behind the 403. UK and US checkout may still show legacy SKUs. Missing Play install-band data stays blank.
