This Caliber review separates the free logger, the Plus subscription and the costly 1:1 coaching tier using store listings and published reviews. This is a source-reviewed guide, not a hands-on lab test.
Who this Caliber review is for
Read this if you want a strength app that can stay free, add a plan library, or escalate to a remote coach. Skip it if you only want a three-screen logger with no nutrition talk and no chat.
A fair Caliber review starts with the free tier. On the US and UK listings captured 13 September 2026, it includes unlimited custom workouts, 800+ exercises with videos, Workout Circles, and optional links to Apple Health or Health Connect. Plus unlocks 120+ coach-designed plans, Strength Score, Strength Balance, lessons, nutrition targets and extra logging tools. Premium is a human coach with chat, form video and weekly reviews.

Coaching claims versus a logger
The US App Store on 13 September 2026 showed version 5.16.1, dated about four days earlier. Play said updated on 4 September 2026. Apple age rating is 13+. Play is Everyone, with a “Users Interact” flag.
Platforms on Apple are iPhone-first (the UK page said “Only for iPhone” while still listing a Mac with Apple silicon). Android is on Play. We did not find a full web trainer comparable to Hevy’s desktop log.
Caliber’s store card says coaches are “highly vetted, accredited personal trainers among the top 1% in their field.” That is the company’s ranking language. It is not a licence we can check from here. Premium also advertises a results guarantee and a refund if you “don’t see results.” BarBend’s 2026 review noted a 30-day money-back line. Refunds are a contract, not proof of training science.
The same card says members improve body composition by 20% or more in 12 weeks “on average.” We found no open methods paper, sample size or definition of “body composition” attached to that sentence. Do not treat it as a clinical result.
Caliber price across tiers
Plus is the in-app subscription. US IAP on 13 September 2026 listed $12 monthly and $72 yearly as the standard pair, plus $9 monthly and $54 or $36 yearly SKUs that look promotional. Twelve months at $12 is $144. The listed yearly price is $72.
UK IAP listed £12 monthly and £69 yearly, plus £9 monthly and £49 or £39 yearly SKUs. Twelve months at £12 is £144. The listed yearly price is £69.
A $3 “Caliber Supporter” monthly SKU appears on both storefronts. We do not have an official page that explains what it unlocks, so we do not invent a feature list.
Premium 1:1 is sold off-store. BarBend’s 2026 review said plans start at $200 a month. Garage Gym Reviews’ 21-day Caliber test used Premium and also said “starts at $200 per month,” with packages that can add Zoom calls. A Reddit thread on r/caliberstrong included a user who was quoted $700 for three months. That is one anecdote, not a price list. If you want 1:1, ask Caliber for a written quote. Do not use Plus IAP as a proxy.
GGR also described a Caliber Pro group-coaching tier at $19 a month with four group programmes. That tier did not appear as a named IAP on the Apple lists we opened. We leave it as a GGR observation, not as a confirmed live SKU on 13 September 2026.
Ratings and independent write-ups
US App Store: 4.8 stars from 5,900 ratings (13 September 2026). UK App Store: 4.8 from 540 ratings. Google Play: 4.6 from about 4,080 reviews (a block said 4,020). Play install band was not on the fetched page.
BarBend’s 2026 Caliber review focused on Premium coaching, called the $200 starting price high versus typical apps, and still recommended it as remote personal training rather than as a cheap logger. Garage Gym Reviews logged 21 days on Premium and described daily chat and weekly or monthly strategy calls depending on the package.
Play reviews in 2026 were more about the free/Plus split. A 31 August 2026 user said progress photos, Strength Score and Strength Balance had moved behind Plus. Caliber replied that those tools became Plus for accounts created after Plus launched in April 2024, and that older accounts kept them. A 31 July 2026 review said custom workouts stay free and that supersets and premade plans are paid. That is useful sentiment. It is not a census.

Privacy and data
Caliber’s privacy policy, last updated 22 May 2025, says the company collects name, phone, address and email, and that card numbers go to a payment processor. The app may collect steps, calories, weight, body fat, height, nutrition and workout logs, including imports from Apple Health, Google Fit or Health Connect with consent. The policy says Health Connect data is not used for advertising and is not shared with third parties without consent.
Apple’s label on 13 September 2026 listed health and fitness, contact info, user content, identifiers, usage data and diagnostics as linked to you. Play Data Safety said no data is shared with third parties, collection may include personal info, health and fitness and five other types, encryption in transit, and deletion on request.
What is unverified
Strength Score and Strength Balance are product metrics. UK App Store reviews in 2023 and 2025 said the score can drop when you trade weight for reps. Caliber’s 2025 reply said the figure tracks estimated 1RM and that you can hide it in settings. We have no independent error rate.
This Caliber review found no trial that tests the 20% body-composition claim. We did not sit in on a coaching chat. Nutrition targets in Plus are not a dietitian visit.
If you only need a log, Hevy or Strong may be enough. If you want the idea of adding load without a score, use the progressive overload guide.
