This Future Fitness review is for people weighing a human remote coach against a $3–$16 programming app. This is a source-reviewed guide, not a hands-on lab test. Future’s site, App Store and Play listings and privacy pages were captured on 13 September 2026.
Who this Future Fitness review is for
Pick Future if you will pay personal-training money for messages, video calls and a weekly plan built around your kit and calendar. The US App Store and Play listings, captured 13 September 2026, both sell that model. They name a kick-off call, unlimited in-app access to one trainer, moveable sessions and an exercise library with video and voice cues.
Skip it if you want a self-serve log. Hevy and Strong cost two orders of magnitude less. Skip it if you need a coach in the room for an old injury. A May 2023 App Store review said remote cues were not enough for that job. That is one user. It is still the right warning.
Future is closer to Ladder than to Fitbod. Ladder sells a team. Future sells one named coach. Fitbod sells an algorithm. Do not compare the $199 invoice to a gym-log subscription.

What the public listing actually includes
The US App Store listing (id 1288178982) is titled Future Pro: Personal Training. It is a free download. Membership is billed on Future’s side at $199 a month, according to the listing text. Version 2026.15 was dated 6 September 2026. It requires iOS 18 or later and lists Apple Watch on watchOS 10 or later. Age rating is 9+.
Google Play (co.future.future) showed a 3 September 2026 update and an Everyone rating. Play copy adds Wear OS 3.0 or later, live heart-rate zones and a Health Connect section. Future says it can read workouts, steps, distance, calories, weight and heart rate, and write completed Future sessions back. Connecting Health Connect is optional.
Android reviews still describe a thinner product. A July 2024 Play review said weight tracking needed an iPhone. A March 2025 review wanted last week’s numbers inside the current session. A May 2026 review said a hide-calories switch failed after an update and that schedule edits were broken. Future replied that a fix was in progress. Those are store comments, not our test notes.
Future Fitness price, subscription and 12-month cost
On 13 September 2026, future.co stated “$50 first month, then $199/month” and “Cancel within 30 days for a full refund.” The App Store and Play descriptions both said membership is USD $199 a month. Third-party pages quote prepaid 3-, 6- and 12-month discounts. We did not see those cash totals on Future’s own homepage fetch. Omit them until the live checkout shows them.
A UK App Store path for the same Apple id returned 404. We will not invent a sterling price. If you are in the UK, confirm whether Future bills in dollars, whether coaches are offered in your country and what the refund window is in your contract.
A standing 12-month US cost at $199 a month is $2,388. If the $50 first-month offer applies and you stay 12 months, the first-year total is $50 + $199 × 11 = $2,239. Months 13–24 at the standing rate would be another $2,388. That is coach labour priced like a remote retainer. It is not an app store IAP of $15.

Ratings and what reviewers actually said
Eleven thousand Apple ratings at 4.9 is unusually high for a paid fitness product. The sample is still self-selected. Many featured reviews praise accountability and a named coach. They are not blinded outcomes.
Play’s 387 reviews sit far lower and one half-star down. That is the Android gap in public. If you live on Wear OS, read recent Play notes about watch disconnects before you pay a first month. The high Apple figure does not travel with you.

Future Fitness privacy and Data Safety
Apple’s privacy label on the US listing, captured 13 September 2026, said data linked to you may include health and fitness, financial info, location, contact info, usage data and diagnostics. The listing also said the app may use location even when it is not open.
Google Play Data Safety the same day said the app may share financial info and device or other IDs with third parties. It may collect location, personal info and six other types. Data is encrypted in transit. You can request deletion. Play’s Health Connect block says health data is not sold and is not used for advertising. That promise is Future’s text, not an audit we ran.
Future’s privacy page (future.co/privacy) is the longer contract. Read it if you will send injury notes, videos of lifts or weight goals to a coach. A remote trainer sees more than a local logger.
What independent tests actually measured
We found no PubMed trial that assigned adults to Future versus a control app and measured strength or adherence with a protocol. Future’s homepage claimed “98% say they’re more consistent within 4 weeks.” That line had no methods paper beside it on our fetch. Treat it as marketing.
NHS adult pages still want muscle work on two or more days and about 150 moderate minutes a week. ACSM’s 2026 stand says the best programme is the one you will do. A coach can help you show up. A coach cannot promise a body change. Form checks from a phone camera have limits. They are not a physio exam.
How it sits next to other strength products
Compare Future with in-person training and with Ladder, not with a $24 Hevy year. The best strength training apps hub covers self-serve tools. This page covers a remote retainer.
If you already know your split, you do not need this invoice. If you stall every time the plan is a PDF, a human ping may be the product. Use the 30-day refund window Future advertises. Book the kick-off call in week one. If the coach is slow or the Android app is the weak link, leave while the refund still applies.
