This SleepWatch review asks whether Bodymatter’s Apple Watch sleep analysis is worth a yearly fee. This is a source-reviewed guide, not a hands-on lab test. We used the US and UK App Store pages, the US Google Play listing, the privacy policy, and named store notes captured on 13 September 2026.
SleepWatch can watch the night from a phone on the nightstand or from a Watch on the wrist. Premium adds coaching, fuller reports, and a smart alarm. The free download is a teaser. The bill sits in Settings.

This SleepWatch review is for adults who want a sleep report plus tips, and who will wear an Apple Watch or leave an iPhone recording. It also suits people who want snore audio without buying a second app.
Skip it if you want a one-time bill. That is AutoSleep. Skip it if a monthly score makes you anxious. Several US reviews said a “poor” night did not match how they felt. Skip it if you need a clinician. The listing says so in plain type.
Scan best sleep apps before you stack two yearly fees. Phone-first buyers may prefer the Sleep Cycle review. Watch-first buyers should also read Pillow.
Dated features and store facts
The US App Store page on 13 September 2026 listed auto Watch tracking for total sleep, restful sleep, sleeping heart rate, rhythm, disruptions, and blood oxygen. Phone mode records sounds. Premium copy names AI coaching, a smart alarm, and in-depth reports. White-noise mixing is advertised.
The same page warns: do not rely on SleepWatch for medical advice. Results are estimates. Do not change medicines on the back of a graph.
Seller was Bodymatter, Inc. Size was 417.4 MB. The listing said the app contains advertising and health or wellness topics. That age 16+ rating is a store policy, not a finding about who should sleep.

Pricing and the 12-month sum
If you pay the US year at $39.99, that is $3.33 a month only if you stay the year. The true month SKU in the listing copy was $4.99. Twelve months of months is $59.88. The UK pair we used for that sum is £35.99 versus £53.88. Other SKUs on both lists look like intro offers. We will not guess which one checkout shows you.
Cancel on the store you used. Trials convert unless you turn auto-renew off in time. A £3.99 or $3.99 report card is a one-off IAP, not the membership.
What store reviews and the listing say
Apple’s listing copy is marketing. User reviews are not a trial. One detailed US review (June 2023) said SleepWatch wrote extra sleep into Health. The developer said you can turn off write permission and edit nights for seven days. The same user later kept the app for trends. That is one thread, not a lab.
Another US review (January 2024) liked oxygen and activity tags, then dropped the year because scores swung after similar nights. The snore mic picked up a dog. Those remain user reports.
Play reviews we sampled mixed refund friction with nights that looked too short. n=62 is too small to weigh against 328,000 Apple ratings. We keep Play in its own cell.
CDC still asks adults 18–60 for at least 7 hours. SleepWatch can chart whether you are near that. It cannot tell you the hours were healthy. See how much sleep by age and sleep and weight regulation for the public-health side, not the score.
Privacy and Health write-back
Bodymatter’s privacy policy (page dated 1 May 2018, fetched 13 September 2026) says an email and password create an account. Health signals, optional body fields, and lifestyle logs may be processed with consent. The firm says it may de-identify or aggregate data and may use, sell, license, or share that de-identified set for research or business. Account deletion may take up to 90 days in backups.
Apple’s current label is shorter: Health & Fitness and user content linked to you; usage not linked. Play said no data shared with third parties. Apple and Google do not use the same words. Read both.
If you do not want SleepWatch to write nights into Health, turn that permission off. The developer’s own reply on the US store explains the path. That is a settings job, not a medical one.
Android listing versus iPhone
The iPhone app is the product most Apple Watch buyers will see. The Play listing is a different surface. It names Galaxy Watch, Pixel Watch, Fitbit, and Galaxy Ring. It does not name Apple Watch. Ratings are not interchangeable.
We did not verify feature parity. Rise Science later told a Play reviewer that its own Android app lags iOS. SleepWatch has not published a similar note on the page we fetched. Treat Android as a separate checkout.
What remains unverified
We did not wear a Watch for this SleepWatch review. We did not compare “restful” time with a sleep lab. We did not verify the heart-rate dip claim against a cardiology paper cited in the listing.
Install counts were not on the Play page we fetched, so they are omitted. Manufacturer “millions of users” copy is not a rating.
Who should skip SleepWatch
Skip the year if a score will bully you after a fine night. Skip it if you already pay AutoSleep and only want a local log. Skip it if you wanted a one-tap alarm with no account.
This SleepWatch review’s close: pay if you will open the report and change a habit. Do not pay for a diagnosis dressed as a number.
