This TrainingPeaks review is for endurance athletes who already think in weeks, not one-off jogs. This is a source-reviewed guide, not a hands-on lab test.
Who this TrainingPeaks review is for
Use TrainingPeaks if you follow a written week or work with a coach who already lives there. The manufacturer pitches drag-and-drop scheduling, a Performance Management Chart and device sync. That is a cockpit, not a cheer feed. This TrainingPeaks review stays on that cockpit.
Skip it if you want a friendly social log. That is Strava. Skip it if you want a phone coach that writes the week for you. That is closer to Runna. A free audio start still sits in Nike Run Club.
New runners who only need a start button should look at the best running apps hub first. If you also lift, pair any plan with our progressive overload guide rather than chasing a Fitness number.

What Premium adds — and what it does not
Peaksware’s Premium page lists workout sync to devices, a weekly fitness summary, planning tools, workout analysis, strength tools, TrainingPeaks Virtual and peak-performance tracking. A 14-day trial is offered on that page.
The same FAQ says coaches and training plans are not included in Premium. A coach may gift Premium. That is their choice. Buying a $70 plan and then finding the calendar locked is a known complaint on Play. Read the plan listing before you pay twice.
The Performance Management Chart uses CTL, ATL and TSB. Company blog copy calls these Fitness, Fatigue and Form. Those are training-load models, not medical vital signs. They move when you upload files. They do not diagnose overtraining. A green Form day is not permission to ignore a swollen tendon.
Dated specs, prices and store ratings
This TrainingPeaks review dates every figure to 13 September 2026 unless noted. App Store SKUs and the website package are not identical. Tax may apply.
| Field | Public figure |
|---|---|
| Current iOS version | 12.114.0 listed as “4d ago” on the US App Store |
| Platforms | iPhone and iPad (iOS / iPadOS 17.0+), Android app, full web planner. Wearables and head units sync by manufacturer claim |
| UK price | UK App Store showed monthly Premium at £18.99 and £19.99; annual at £129.99 and £119.99; quarterly at £46.99 |
| US price | Website: $134.99 a year ($11.25 a month billed annually). US App Store: $19.99 a month, $134.99 a year, $119.99 one-year SKU, $48.99 quarterly |
| Free, trial, subscription | Basic is free. Premium has a 14-day trial on the website FAQ. Coaches and plans are extra |
| 12-month cost | $134.99 if you take the website annual. $239.88 if you pay $19.99 each month. UK annual £129.99 versus about £227.88 at £18.99 a month |
| 24- and 36-month estimate | About $269.98 or $404.97 at the $134.99 yearly rate, if the price does not change. That is arithmetic, not a contract |
| App Store rating | US 4.7 from 13K ratings, age 9+. Ireland listing showed 4.7 from 312 ratings |
| Google Play rating | 4.2 from about 33K reviews. Play said the app is not a medical device |
| Privacy / Data Safety | Play: no data shared with third parties; may collect personal info, health and fitness and four other types; encrypted in transit; deletion request offered. Apple listed some health and fitness data as linked for app functionality |
| Recent public sentiment | A 4 September 2025 US App Store review praised the log for an older runner who did not want a coach. Play complaints include paying for a plan and still needing Premium to move sessions. Individual posts, not a survey |
| Core features | Calendar, file sync, PMC load model, strength library, TrainingPeaks Virtual, coach messaging |
| Validation | PMC maths is a published coaching model. We found no independent trial that this app’s Fitness number predicts race times in a general sample |
Privacy and data in plain language
TrainingPeaks says it is the controller for EEA and UK personal data. Offices are listed in Colorado. The privacy policy, captured 13 September 2026, says Google Analytics may collect IP address and visit data on the sites.
That sits beside a Play form that says no data is shared with third parties. Those two sentences can both be true if the form covers the app and the policy covers the website. They can also be stale. Read both if you upload heart-rate files.
Health and fitness data is the product. A coach you connect can see a lot. Only connect a coach you hired.

What independent sources actually measured
We did not ride or run with TrainingPeaks. National bodies appear as “trusted partners” on the store card, including British Cycling and USA Triathlon. That is a partnership line, not a validation study.
Joe Friel and other coaches have written about CTL and TSB for years. Those essays explain the model. They do not test this mobile build. A 4.2 Play score against a 4.7 App Store score is a sentiment split, not a lab result.
If you want adidas-branded social running instead of a cockpit, see adidas Running. It is a different job.
What remains unverified
This TrainingPeaks review cannot say Premium makes you fitter. We did not verify Virtual physics. We did not verify every wearable listed in marketing. We did not verify UK web checkout, only UK App Store SKUs. The Irish App Store listed euro SKUs, including €22.99 a month and €149.99 a year. That is not a UK pound price. US App Store notes for late 2025 described Performance Insights text around Fitness, Form and Fatigue for Premium athletes. We did not verify that copy on a live account. Strength workouts, the company says, can feed the same fitness and fatigue scores. That link is a software rule, not a bone scan. If you only want a social run club, you are in the wrong shop. If you want a coach who already bills through TrainingPeaks, ask what the coach fee includes before you add Premium on the App Store.
Load numbers look precise. They still depend on files you upload and on how TSS is set. Garbage in stays garbage. Sharp pain is still a stop, even if Form looks green.
